Mission – DisArt’s mission is to use expressions of a Disabled cultural identity to transform society from awareness to understanding to belonging, creating a community that enjoys the full and equitable participation of all Disabled people.

The mission of DisArt is centered on the idea that disability belongs within the larger, cultural imagination regarding the varied systems and meaning of human identity and community.

Power of Art – DisArt believes in the power of art to change the way people perceive disability and to create the necessary civic conversations in order that physical and mental differences are better understood and celebrated. These conversations aim to facilitate individual and institutional actions where universal access, disability rights, and social integration become a central part of the cultural consciousness.

What We Do – All DisArt programs center on disability, identity, design, and community making in order to engage Disabled and nondisabled audiences in ways that increase their awareness and understanding of Disability culture and the lived experience of disability.
